THE ROLE

As a Dishwasher / Porter at THISBOWL, you’ll play an essential role in keeping our restaurant clean, safe and ready for service. You’ll be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, pots, pans and equipment while helping maintain the cleanliness and organization of our back-of-house areas.

Our kitchens move fast and they move together. You’ll work closely with the rest of the team to keep clean equipment flowing, maintain safe and sanitary work areas and jump in wherever support is needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Together with your fellow team members and Restaurant Manager, you’ll help keep the restaurant clean, organized and running smoothly. You’ll be expected to:

• Operate the dishwasher and clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized and safe dishwashing, kitchen, storage, trash and other back-of-house areas throughout your shift.
• Complete opening and closing cleaning duties, including cleaning tables, chairs and floors, removing trash and recycling, and setting up workstations.
• Properly use, clean and maintain dishwashing, sanitation and cleaning equipment while following chemical handling, storage and labeling procedures.
• Receive, organize and store cleaning supplies, paper goods and disposables, assist with inventory counts and communicate restocking needs to management.
• Support teammates with restaurant setup, breakdown and other operational needs to keep service running smoothly.
• Participate in team training and complete other reasonable duties assigned by management.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Previous experience as a Dishwasher, Porter or in a restaurant or fast-casual environment preferred.
• Familiarity with restaurant cleaning, sanitation and food safety practices.
• A strong work ethic and pride in maintaining a clean and organized workplace.
• Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• A team-player mindset and willingness to jump in and support your teammates.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to safely use commercial dishwashing, cleaning and sanitation equipment.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate preferred but not required.
• Availability to work mornings, nights, weekends and holidays, with a variable schedule based on business needs.

Team members in this position may be required to:

• Work in environments with varying temperatures, including refrigerated storage areas and near hot cooking equipment.
